Employees work with senior leaders to give input and improve quality Jonathan visited a company in another state that CA Connect does business with. He was impressed by the camaraderie he saw between departments and employees. The company CEO proudly told him that the team spirit of his employees was also boosting the company's profits. When Jonathan returned, he took a look around his company and noticed the lack of collaboration between departments and workers at CA Connect. He could tell the employees were less engaged than those at the other company he had just visited.

Choice 1 Have the department heads set up teams and develop them into strong units. The teams will compete against one another and are encouraged to do whatever it takes to win. Compensate the teams separately for any successes they achieve.

Choice 2 Ask senior leaders to establish interdepartmental teams of employees at all levels to resolve production and quality issues. As part of this interdepartmental effort, change the compensation plan to reward employees for their own performances, for team performances and also for overall company performance.

Choice 3 Require each department to have very specific goals and to focus on quality and efficiency. Each group will work together to resolve their issues within the department and not interfere with other departments' operations. Their compensation will be based solely on their achievements in their department.
